About

Patrick lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He takes pride in high-quality code, solving complex problems with simple solutions, and helping others. He is a frequent public speaker and writer on web development, and is also a co-organizer of Refresh Pittsburgh.

He’s been writing code - in one form or another - since 1997. Mostly HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, but also Ruby on Rails, PHP, and a sprinkling of C# along the way.

He’s been working on pattern libraries and design systems since 2013. Before leaving agency life, he served as a technical lead and an engineer at Sparkbox where he collaborated with a variety of clients including the design system team at one of the world’s largest clothing retailers.

He’s also been fortunate to have collaborated with teams from Aperian Global, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Wombat Security Technologies (now Proofpoint), Blacks In Technology, The American Economic Association, and The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, amongst others.

Currently, he’s a Staff Design Engineer at Adobe, where he’s the lead engineer for Spectrum CSS, which is part of the Spectrum design system.

The best way to get in touch with him is via Mastodon.
